One of the great things about the Star Wars universe is the number
of diverse and different costumes that were created. Most movies
have one or two good designs; Star Wars had X-wing pilots, Tie
pilots, Stormtroopers and Darth Vader in the first movie alone.
Part of the reason they were able to do this is the extensive
reuse of bits from one costume in another. One of the first
vacforming projects we made was X-wing pilots. Add a Stormtrooper
faceplate and chest armor and you have a Tie pilot. From there
you're well on your way to making a Stormtrooper. This is the
sequence we took in making costumes and the wealth of source
material is why we keep coming back to the Star Wars universe to
make new costumes.
