The net is truly a small world. One of the creators of this piece, Cary Bryant, happened to notice this page and emailed enough information to confirm this piece's origins.

Originally made around 1991, this medical tricorder was one of only a couple they fabricated. Cary did the lights and sound while his partner made the body.
