It's hard to justify a $12,000 -- or even $1,000 lathe for hobby use. Even so, looking at these props the thought is very, very tempting. Robin made these at a community college's machine shop as his first attempt at machining a prop. A lot of time went into not just dimensioning the prop, but also determining the minimum number of steps required in order to turn one. It takes about an hour to produce each one.
