Colonial Marine armor was always a favorite of mine. Besides the
coolness factor it looked functional. Too bad the marines in the
movie had such poor weapon control--ever notice how they tended
to spray fire when dying and how that usually caused even more
problems for the survivors? But I digress. The original armor
was made by Terry English, a renowned medieval armorer from
England. His design is surprisingly comfortable with shoulder
scoops and enlarged belly section. The basic design fits a
range of sizes from a 5'6", 135 pound person to 6'2", 210 pounds
without major alterations. It offers a good range of movement
but after several hours it starts to press painfully down on the
shoulders and gets rather sweaty. It's still better than most
of the costumes we've made though.
